I’ve recently been obsessed with K-beauty or Korean beauty, beauty and skincare products imported from South Korea. South Korea is the origin of skincare crazes like the double-cleansing method, the 10-step Korean skincare routine and the increasingly popular glowing, dewy skin look. The country boasts one of the most advanced and innovative skincare industry’s in the world and has introduced ingredients Western skincare-lovers have never even dreamed of putting on their face (ever heard of snail mucin?).
That’s what makes South Korea a leader in skincare; it’s dedication to the best, most effective, and often times, natural ingredients. Popular ingredients such as plant and root extracts, as well as natural oils like camellia and safflower oil, date back to the Three Kingdoms era and have been passed down from generation to generation.
I was so excited to learn that Target has expanded its K-beauty skincare collection to include even more popular brands. I took a trip to Target on State St. to check out the goodies in store:
CAOLION
Caolion’s Pore Ritual Line includes the Blackhead O2 Bubble Pore Pack ($26), designed to clarify pores, eliminate black and whiteheads as well as gently exfoliate the skin, and the Blackhead Steam Pore Pack ($23), a charcoal powder mask that promotes healthy skin cell turnover and purifies pores.
WHAMISA BY GLOW RECIPE
Exclusively at Target, you can pick up Whamisa’s Chai Tea Eye Cream ($25.99) and Serum-In-Cream ($21.99), two products enriched with gentle chai tea antioxidants to help rejuvenate and nourish the skin. They’re a perfect duo to include in your nighttime routine.
MISSHA TIME REVOLUTION
Missha is a well-known and followed brand in the Korean skincare industry, and for good reason. Missha’s Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence ($49) is one of the best-selling essences in South Korea and has become a favorite due to its ability to repair damaged skin and its powerful hydrating ingredients. The price is on the higher scale, but think of it as an investment. (Fun Fact: Essences also originated in South Korea! They usually follow toner and precede moisturizer.)
MAKE P:REM
Make P:rem is a brand that promises real results. Products like the Black Cleansing Water ($21.99), Peel Me Radiance Sleeping Pack ($29.99), and Wonderful me In-Shower Face Mask ($24.99) are free of parabens, sulfates and synthetic dyes. I definitely recommend picking up the Nourishing Oil Mask ($5.99) on your next Target run. It’s a sheet mask that combines oil and mask to plump and calm the skin.
